how strong are they?
how much power can my stock axles take. the drive shaft and all. i heard on here that the stock internals go as far as 220 hp if u get a good tune but will the axles be able to take it too? thanks for any feed back.
they axles only really break when you drop the clutch hard, or have a lot of power. i would say only upgrade after you break them if your pushing 220 hp and they don't break keep em
i do have to say that the they will eventually break or go bad, so when they do it is my philosophy that if it needs to be replaced or fixed, might as well make it stronger now rather than later

the output of the tranny where the axles (CV shafts) are, to the hubs are all one unit, containing some pieces inside the cv boots. if they go bad replace the whole thing, they run about 100-200 dollars a set for remanufactered ones.
the cheapest axles i have found are from driveshaftshop.com and they are $700 bucks. if anyone knows where i can get some that hold up to 300 hp for cheaper let me know. i would apprecate it. Im not looking to go over 300 hp. i really want to stop at 250 hp but, i don't know. i just want to run 13's in the 1/4 and ill be as happy as a fat kid eating cake.
700 bucks is a lot for axles. if your not hard on your car all the time stick with some stock axles, or find a shop that can rebuild them and have them nitrided and shop peened for extra strength
a freind told me to check into that but, i just want it not to break. its my daily right now until i can find a cheap hatch or something. i don't want to spend 700 on axles at all so maybe i will look into making my stock ones stronger.
