How to tell if you have an LSD?
 

Anyone know? If you dont have LSD then only one wheel will spin? Is that right?

jack the front end up and move a wheel if both move then u have it...yea both wheels will spin when doin a burnout..won't leave a one wheel burnout..i think only some si came with them..

well I have a DX d15b7, i didnt think it had an lsd but I was spinning the tires last night (in the snow, thats the only way I can do it) and both were going.?

I think someone on this forum said that they have a car that doesn't have lsd but still spun both tires.They said it in a topic like this one.

btw, I think absoulute is right, only the si's have them stock but you can buy one and install it. I know I don't have one because I just spun my tires like a half hour ago and I only heard my right tire spinning. [97 EX]

otherwise:

Operational Check

1. Set the parking brake and block the rear wheels.

2. Raise the front of the vehicle, and support it with
safety stands in the proper locations.

3. With the engine off, shift the transmission into 1st
gear.

4. Rotate either front wheel by hand and check that
the other wheel rotates in the opposite direction.

5. lf the opposite front wheel does not rotate, or if vou
cannot spin the front wheels at all, the limited slip
differential is faulty and should be replaced.

the tire turning method depends on the lsd...........easiest way to confirm is to remove both axles and look through the axle holes in the transmission. if you can see straight through its an lsd equiped tranny. if you see a steel rod its an open diff tranny.

If both only will go in the snow you prob dont have an lsd cause anyone can spin both tires in water...or on ice (snow)

Risking ignorance, what's the difference between an engine that has an lsd yran as opposed to one with a normal 5 spd tran? What does lsd give you that a normal 5 spd won't? Thanks.

If you don't have lsd then your engine only turns the right tire, if you have lsd then once your right tire starts to lose traction then it will start to turn the left tire also. lsd=limited slip differential
