Default Hydraulic Clutches

I need a quick answer please, as I've posted elsewhere but with no luck. Ok what I want to know is, are hydraulic clutches meant to be soft? By soft I mean when pushing it down, its almost impossible to see where the catch point is? I heard 1998 Civic CXi's have hydraulic clutches, I drive a 98 CXi, and the clutch seems really soft, is this how its suppose to be?

Thanks!

I found the same thing when I got my 2004 civic. I previously had a 89 VW jetta with cable clutch and found it much easier to feel the catch point. I have had my civic for almost a year and I stilll havent quite got the feel for it.

yeah, it might mean the clutch is wearing out, but it is a little softer than a cable.
