Default Project

Hey, since I moved to vancouver and now have practically no use for a car, I decided to retire my 1987 Civic 4wd. Then i thought, this car is sweet, and with the acura swap job, it rips. I decided to keep it as a project car, and, since it has such a perfect wheelbase, slowly reinforce the frame (beefy as it already is) and replace components turning it into a rally machine. Now, haynes is super unclear as to how the 4wd system works (its a wierd rear differential system) and ive been trying to figure out if i can make the 4wd system manually engaged. (eg, manually locking diff) there, apparently, is some sort of electrical system also associated with the 4wd, and although i havent spent alot of time on it yet, i thought id ask here first. anyone heard of stuff like this?

tl;dr: the 87 5dr 4wd rear diff: can I make it manual?

This has been done before. Google it. Prepare yourself for a hole lot of work. But if you do it right it will all be worth it. Good luck to you sir and welcome to HCF.
