it's not JDM Honda, it is a fake no-name brand. "JDM" is just keyword spam unless it's an actual OEM part from Japan.

Yes you will reduce short throw. However, it is made of aluminum and not steel like its name brand counterparts. That means it is light, which is not something you want in a shifter. It will make the shifting less positive, and you will notice that it actually kind of seems weaker when you are shifting. Also, many people have had them break. Many people have also had them hit the exhaust piping. Yours may fit perfect, and it may not break. But, there is just as much chance that it will. You never know, eBay generic parts are generally hit and miss. The one thing that you can be assured of is that it is weaker than a name brand or stock one, and that it will feel weaker to you during shifting. A name brand one will also probably have shorter throw.

No, there is not even anything JDM "style" about it. It does not resemble anything "JDM". It is not attempting to be a knockoff of anything. It is just a no name shifter.

It is simply keyword spam. It is completely irrelevant to the eBay listing and is only there to make people think it is cool (many noobs tend to think JDM=cool) and to generate better search exposure (because those noobs who think JDM=cool many times use "JDM" as a search entry when looking for stuff).

damn, i wasnt thinking jdm is cool. i just wanted something thats not all fancy and just clean. I know that jdm is japanese domestic market. made in japan. it is shipping from japan. well the ebay store i bought it from buys them from japan in bulk, i asked where their source was. so technically speaking it would be jdm. but i do understand where your coming from about them using jdm to lure people in. personally i dont care if what i buy is jdm or not. i just want a nice clean car no matter where the parts were manufactured.

Okay. Just informing you that it isn't an imitation of some JDM shifter...

Also, just because it was made in Japan doesn't mean it is a JDM product. To be JDM, a part had to have been originally sold only in Japan... being made in Japan has nothing to do with it. If a part is made in China and sold in Japan, it is still JDM. That shifter is not "JDM", it is sold in the global market.

well i agree to disagree in a sense. it just depends on what you think jdm means. we are both right according to this.

urbandictionary.com is not a valid source. Anyone can post anything on urbandictionary. Same goes for Wikipedia. It's called misinformation. Sorry, but you are wrong.

JDM literally means Japanese Domestic Market. A JDM part is a part sold in the Japanese Domestic Market. The word "domestic" indicates that it is physically sold within Japan. If the part was originally obtained by a person in Japan buying the part in Japan, then it is JDM. If it can be originally bought from the manufacturer, in Japan, while not being in Japan, then it is not JDM. Here's where it gets tricky: a retail company can sell a JDM product internationally and it can still be JDM... this is because they are not the manufacturer, and had to buy it from the manufacturer to make it available for exporting to the country you live in.

Basically, to be JDM, the part had to be originally only available to buy if you are in Japan. Later on, various retailers export those parts to the United States (or other country) so that people in that country can buy them. Those parts are still JDM, because a retailer had to make it available to people in the United States for those people to be able to buy them.
That is the universal, real definition.

You can pretend it means something else all you want, but that doesn't make it so.
