Hi..ready for tranny service on 2000 at.
will a flush hurt my tranny ? Need some
expert advice !!

 

DRAIN AND REFILL ONLY!!!!!!!

flushing the tranny knocks out all the gunk in the tranny and then it clogs up the internal screen filters which leads to overheating and trany death!
and thats just the metal internal screens, not including the internal filter, which can not be replaced without taking the tranny apart ALOT.....

so just drain the fluid and top it off again....
most shops will recomend a flushing.... and why wouldnt they? it does knock all dirt loose BUT at the same time it clogs up the internal screens which makes your tranny fail and guess what...... they want you to come back and so called TRUST THEM with a tranny replacement then they got your money.....

any brand atf i should use ??

 

i use factory OEM HONDA fluid. but at any dealership.

 

Use Honda OEM ATF-Z1 fluid only!!! costs about$6/qt. qts# needed 10-12
1. Bring the engine to operatingtemperature
2. You take out the drain plug (located on the pass (RH)side towards the frt bumper using a 3/8" ratchet) and approx. 2.5-3qts. will drain out
3. Put the plug back in. Add2.5-3 quarts (whatever gets you to the full mark).
4.Start up the engine and shift through all of the gears twice.
5. Shut it off, and drain again. Add 2.5-3qts (whatever gets you to the full mark),
6. Start the car and shift through all the gears twice.
7.Shut off the car, drain again and fill with 2.5-3qts. (whatever gets you to the full mark).
8. Start the car and shift through all of the gears twice.
9.Drain again and fill again with 2.5-3 qts. (whatever gets you to the full mark).
Now you are done! And good for another 100k miles ) This method will have replaced virtually all of your fluid.
This is what the Honda dealer will do and they will charge one hr labor - ($70-100 depending on the dealer) plus the fluid. DIY and save!

 

if its a manual then ya only need like 2 quarts and a simple drain and fill....

so depends which ya got.....
