Default Transmission Problem maybe?

My car only recently started to give me alot problems. Two weeks ago it just clunked out on me, It won't accelerate (does not go past 20), why is this???If it was a tranmission problem wouldn't it not accelerate at all? It doesn't make any knocking noises or anything, doesn't overheat either.....whatis the problem (2001,honda civic ex-automatic)
any suggestions, and the most important how much?

hmm...check for a slipping transmission, also check the transmission fluid level and condition. If the fluid gives off a burning odor, then the transmission has been slipping internally..
