Exclamation 2004 Honda Civixc Ex Shifting at 4000rpm issues

Just recently bought this car and it has been great running until about a month ago. When you are driving some times it shift normal, say at 1500-2000 Rpm but recently it will not shift until it gets to 4000RPM but it will shift and does not slip and goes all the way to 3rd, It will not shift into 4th until around 5000rpm. The speedometer works fully the whole time and does not stop working. I have checked the Tran Fluid and it is fine, checking while it was not running but was run around the block a few times to warm it up. I have not noticed a difference between hot and cold weather but it is cold here and that is when it seemed to started even if the car is warmed up. meaning i can leave the house drive to town and then go into the store, then come out go to the next place and if shifts bad. Stop at another store and it may or may not be fine, it is hit or miss. Some have said the speed sensor that is on the transmissions, other have said the Shift Solenoid but unsure on both. I can do most work myself and do not mind getting dirty working on it, just let me know your thoughts and if you need more info. This is the wife's car so got to get it fixed. It is showing a check engine light and plan on going to get checked but wanted thought here as well. Let me know

Have you tried the TPS sensor? I had one do the same thing to me on a MAZDA. Is the Trans fluid burnt or is it cherry red might need changed. I have chased the 7th Gen. Auto Transmission and never won.

The tran fluid is red but not a cherry or burnt red. I was thinking about the TPS as well but was unsure how that would relate to the tranny and the way it is shifting since that is more so about fuel mixture.

TPS signals the Transmission about shifting and passing gear it all comes from pedal position. Borrow a TPS from a friends car to troubleshoot. I have fought Transmission trouble and lost.
