I see that your post was in march i am curious as to how the shifter is working out long term. I have considered getting one of the ebay cheapies but i am skeptical.

A bought a Cheap Ebay Short Throw Shifter, about 6-8 months ago. It is still in good shape. Good smooth shifting. Lasts a long time when take car. I don't beat on it alot and it is holding up perfectly.

The previous owner of my car had a no-name shifter installed on my car, my guess would be that it was from ebay. The threads were broken off (stuck in the ****) and it was down to where there wasn't threaded so I am guessing if you shift to hard you will break it. I havn't had any problems with the dc sports one I replaced it with and it feels a little better than the ebay one too. So I would say ebay if your broke, name brand if you like to do things right and don't want to break it. (and keep a deep socket in your glove box to put over the shifter so you can still drive it home after you breakthe shifterif you go with ebay)

i've heard of them breaking, and i've heard of them working great for months, maybe years. Mines coming up on a year and it's doing great. Get some polyurethane shift bushings and it's AWESOME to shift i have a weighted GReddy ****, idk if it makes that big of a difference, but the short shifter/poly bushings is awesome. The bushings are easy to do once you're down there and they're under $20, so might as well do it. Specially in an older car where the bushings are prolly worn out.

One tip about the ebay short shifters is to not get the aluminum ones, those are the ones everyone hears of breaking. I bought a stainless steel one and it was about 15 bucks more but I know it won't break. I've like it too, I have a Skunk2 weighted shift **** on it.
