Hey guys,
Just got lined up with JET Performance today. We are now offering computer upgrades for all model Civics.
What happens is that you send them your computer, and they re-tune it based on what current mods you have to get better peformance and more horsepower.
As always, we will offer discounts to HCF members. Depending on how many people are interested, the discounts get better.

Your pretty much dead on.
When the packaging and instructions arrive, you list the mods you have and they re-tune the ECU to work under those conditons. A stock ECU has the factory settings and doesnt change itself on the fly when you add more air (turbo) or less back pressure (exhaust). They pretty much load a new program onto the ECU to work under the new parameters of your engine along with any mods you have.
They can re-tune an ECU for engines that have intakes, exhausts, headers, cams, turbos, NOS...you name it.

Not to rain on anyones parade but this is not a good idea if youre running a turbo or supercharger. For example. A stock D16y8, with a t25 dsm turbo, and 2.5" turbo back exhaust thats got 50,000 miles on it goes to a dyno tuner, and gets a 200WHP tune. A week later another stock D16y8, with a t25 dsm turbo, and 2.5" turbo back exhaust comes in for a 200 whp tune........the 2 tunes will be very differnt, as no 2 cars are the same. The setup may be the same, but a dyno tune is where its at.

When you receive your package, you list your engine type, mileage and all mods you have on the enclosed specifications sheet. Once received they custom tailor a new program for the ECU based on your specification sheet (mods, mileage..etc) which changes the air/fuel ratios, ignition advance and boost pressures for turbo'd vehicles. In some cases, they remove the eprom chip from the ECU and install a new chip that will allow your vehicle to achive maximum performance based on your engine and mods.
As for pcupo12's post, that same statement covers just about any mod anyone would add to their car. Your Civic Si may not gain, or may gain more horsepower than your neighbors Si by adding the same exhaust or cold air intake. Its all perspective. Just like when AEM claims their intakes can add 5 to 7 horsepower to your Civic. Well they probably can but is that statement true for two Civics, one with 35,000 miles that has been ragged out and one with 85,000 miles that has been cared for? Will they both get the added 5 to 7 hp? Maybe not, but a mod is a mod. You gain something with it, and your sure to gain nothing without it.
