Default flywheel

This is probably a stupid question. I was wondering if you replace your stock flywheel with a light one do you lose any torque? I know you gain hp cause it's easier to spin.

you don't really lose torque, you lose inertia. a lighter flywheel willmake your engine easier to rev because it has less mass to accelerate, but the loss of inertia will cause the RPM to drop quickly. a lighter flywheel makes drag launching harder to do without bogging down, but it is better for road racing. with a lighter flywheel you might also notice more engine vibration
