Audio/Visual Electronics - CB Radio

Well I guess my question is, do you guys carry CB's and if you do where do you mount them? (if I mount it where it usually is I'd keep hitting my hand while shifting)

the last time ive seen a CB was when i was 5 years old in my grandpas car on a trip to Iowa. so that was 20 years ago

i want a cb, i guess thats a good way to avoid cops on the freway. the truckers are always sayin where they are. maybe you could even get a good block if a cop sees you and tries to catch up.:eek:

My civic is teh first car I didn't put a CB into...you guys have no idea how helpful they are(think channel 9). But again until I get myself started on that interior of my I don't have a comfy place to put it.


sacicons, there are a lot of cheap ones on ebay. A $25 one is allright for us, but make sure you get one with an antenna...

lol. cbs are great. my dad is a truck driver and i have messed with them all of my life. it is a good way to avoid cops, truckers will help you out with that and other things on the road.
CB- you dont need any type of licince i think thats the HAM radio (i think thats what its called)

i do carry one and i havent mounted it yet but im going to put it infront of the shifter in the cubbyhole cause mine is pretty small and also have a question i wanted mine for a pa system and having trouble on where to put the speaker any ideas

Just find an empty space under the hood to mount the speaker.

arent cb antenas super long?

i think im gonna try to find a hand-held. any opinions? i cant find anywhere to mount a normal one, but im thinkin i might end up getting the center console from a jdm civic armrest and mount it in there.

CB antennas aren't necessarily super long...you can get them long but they also have normal size ones...also i have used hand held cbs and they are pretty nice..actually my dad just picked one up from a buddy...he has it in his truck now....they are good for anything close...2 miles or so

I'm gonna mount my on top of the dash...:-D Gonna look like a hybrid of a radar detector and a large alarm clock, but who cares...I'm gonna think it into the interior I'm working on...And the antenna I'm getting(laugh all you want) is a huge whip-like one from a HUMVEE :-D

my antanna is about a foot long and is magnetic and lights up neon blue when you transmit along with my cb it illuminates blue its nice since im going to do my interior blue

well i found my place behind my front bumper on the passenger side got the idea from the windshield wiper resovoir

I've been wonding/thinking about getting for a while now... how do you know what channel to be on? do they scan? What features should I look for?

if you get a cb, might as well get one with a PA on it so you can yell at people ;). My cousin would use his for racial purposes... it was actually funny to watch peoples reaction.

are hand held ones like walkie-talkies? if so how much. truckers in my area look for pretty red coups like mine.[:@]
