Header, Intake, & Exhaust - makeshift sri

I have a factory intake and i was wondering if i took off the air filter box and all of that but kept the tubing with all the sensors on, and just add an air filter for a sri to the end of the tube if it would be the same?

if you are going to that much trouble why not just get an ebay sri for $20?
