Default i got a question about the MAFS on my ek coupe

i heard someone talking about putting a resistor in your mass air flow sensor to trick the computer into thinking the car is running cold...by doing this you will obviously have a gain in horsepower...i have a 96 Civicex...d16y8...and i was wondering if anyone knew the steps into doing this or have done it and had good results...aight hit me up and let me know
