Audio/Visual & Electronics - Neon Fuse

Awhile ago it was below freezing and my neon wasn't working and I thought it was just because it was so cold. It warmed up and my neon still wasn't getting any power. Well I went to redo the power and ground wires for an easy fix and while doing that I found that the fuse had blown so all I needed to do was replace the fuse insted of all the wireing. It came with a 3amp fuse and I can't find a replacement at walmart and adavance auto parts because this fuse came with the neon kit so I can't find another that fits. I bought a new fuse holder so I could just use a different fuse. My question would be if it would be ok to use a 10 amp fuse insted of a 3 or is that too much. Do I need to wait and find a 3amp? I'm not going to hook anything up until I find the right answer even though it is really tempting since I havn't had my neon for a while.

Cliff Notes: 3amp fuse blew and I can't find another one that fits, can I use a 10amp fuse wherea 3amp fuse is supost to be for my underglow neon?

Is it a round cylinder lookin fuse or one of the plug in type fuses?

If you haven't looked, lowes and Home Deopt have tons of fuses, you might find the fit there.

It's a tube one, I just can't find one that will fit right because normal ones are a little bigger than the one that came with the neon.

as an electricain. its fused for 3 amps. and that means you should keep it at 3 amps. if you go 10. that means 10 amps is gonna make it blow and causing everything to get wrecked. where as if if 3amps starts coming down the line the 3amp will blow and not wrecking the neon. go and find a 3amp that will fit. try local electrical stores, take your fuse holder in and get one that fits. or you can get rid of neon all together.:)

Try Radioshack... I know for a fact that they'll have them (if you're willing to look hard enough... or just have an employee look for you... it's what i do:D)

*Edit: Oh, yeah... you'll want to bring the old blown fuse with you (if you still have it) to show them.. it helps a lot lol

I went to radioshack today and they found the right fuse for me. Neon is working again, thanks for the help guys.

Make it easy on yourself and just throw the neon out.
