New Member Introductions - Hello!!!!View Full Version : Hello!!!! tampacivicguy 04-15-2005, 08:56 PM I need help with ideas of what 2 do 2 my 2005 civic lx i bought it yesterday and want 2 hook it up ineedhp 04-15-2005, 09:19 PM welcome to the forum. i think you have to be a little more descriptive on what you mean by "hooking up". there are ALOT of things that you can do. there are also alot of things that you shouldn't do. beware of these things and you will be alright. these are things that can be classified as rice. altezza lights, wings, nasty body kits, cut springs, stickers that have no affliliation with your ride. i think there's a forum that discusses rice somewhere on here. look around, you should find it. hope that helps a little. good luck! also, if you could post some pics of your ride, we can get a better idea. sickcivic420 04-15-2005, 09:21 PM rims, intake, header, exhaust, put a system in it, what do you want to do to it?? tampacivicguy 04-15-2005, 09:51 PM what size rims should i get 17"? and how far should i lower it? Pete 04-15-2005, 09:53 PM 17 inch rims......ive yet to lower my car cuz i hear it ruins the ride. Nail I3unny 04-15-2005, 11:02 PM it wont ruin the ride, it will actually reduce body roll and help u handle corners better, but u need to calculate how much u can lower it and what size rims u can put on it without the tire hitting the well EDIT: unless u mean ruin the looks of the ride, some ppl dont like how it looks D16z6 04-16-2005, 02:57 AM you will need a camber kit too but that all depend on how low u lower it. tampacivicguy 04-16-2005, 06:24 AM do i need a camber kit if i only lower it 1.4" ???? ngoti 8tor 04-16-2005, 09:27 AM First, you better let us know how much $$$$ you have 2 hook it up. wannabfast 04-16-2005, 09:50 PM well camber kits are recomended WHENEVER you modify the suspension in one way or another, just overrides the hassle of buying new tires every few months.. altho if you got sticky tires that go every few months anyways.. LOL then it really dont matter sacicons 04-16-2005, 11:43 PM you wont need a camber kit for 1.4". not on a 7th gen. they use Macpherson struts, and you dont get hardly any negative camber from lowering it. the rears may get a bit more than you'd normally want, but at 1.4, it shouldnt be too much for the rear. i had soft tires on the rear of mine, and about 5-6* of negative camber on the back, and the tires still lasted well over 8 months. you probably wont see more than 1-2* of negative on the back. get a rear kit eventually, but dont trip on it for now. hondawhore 04-17-2005, 09:53 AM Here's my setup: I got a 90 Integra with H&R Race Springs. I got approximately a 2" drop in the rear and 2.5" in the front. I'm running on 17" rims with 205/40/17 tires. I live in NYC and in my opinion, this is the worst setup to use in my area, especially when its my daily driver. The roads are bad, especially with the dips and humps in the roads. Also on ramps I usually scraped when going up or coming down. As far as handling goes, it is excellent when cornering. I can do about 60-65 mph on a 40 mph curve. Also, the car handles great at high speeds. I don't feel as much swaying as when the car wasn't lowered. As far as looks are concerned, it's got that "aggresive racing" look with the wing on. And I get a lot of compliments on it. It all depends on how you plan on setting up your ride and what you want out of it. jwsimons 04-17-2005, 10:01 AM first lower it, then camber correction and alignment, then you can tell exactly what rims and tires will work.. se7ensectoolate 04-17-2005, 01:07 PM Drop a K20 in it. vtekk00 04-21-2005, 04:55 AM simple lowering were the hassle is taken out...... eibach springs.. pro kit for low..... sport kit for even lower.... ive got a 2000 ex, im runnin sport kit with 17x7 wraped in 205/40/r17.. looks sweet. n very simple............ then drop a k20 in it....
