Default Is this the right transmission?

I'm looking at buying a transmission for my 92 civic hatchback. Someone has one for sale, but i want to make sure the transmission is from a ex or si. They gave me the vin, and 2 other numbers. i think the vin is from the car though, not the trans. Are there vin numbers on transmissions? Here's the info they gave me:
vin#1HG J8146WL023732. # on tip of bell housing is S40-1580124 and # on trany housing is K4F P4A. it came from a 96 EX civic
Is there a website i can go to that would let me type in these numbers to find out? A local honda dealer and he said the vin is wrong and that he can't look it up by the other 2 numbers.

yeah that's a tranny off of a D16Y8 (6th gen civic, 96-98 ex)

Before you by it, confirm that it's the B000 tranny. This link will show you how to check:

If it is the B000, then you'll have an awesome trans!

well, I'm not sure if it applies to the hatchs or not, but all 92-98 civics SOHC engines have hydraulic transmissions. If for some reason you have the ZC engine or if you have cable it will require other things. I don't know if you can get it to work for a ZC. If you have cable trans right now, there is a cable-to-hydraulic conversion sold on passwordjdm.
