addiction2bass 08-26-2007, 03:51 PM its a manual.... tell them to take off the Ebrake AND PUSH IT AROUND!
i think thats a very modest request to make!
cause if i leave my civic for any work that i leave for to long i adjust my radios outputs bass ALL THE WAY DOWN!!!!! or if i THINK they will play with my system i remove the main fuse for my amplifier ;)

i'd be afraid they would crack the new cf hood or mess up the hatch pushing it around but that's my luck lol
SovXietday 08-27-2007, 10:08 AM Oh, I'm not giving them any of the CF pieces anyway lol. I know the guys personally and am a good friend with one of the guys who works there so I'm not too worried about the car.
addiction2bass 08-27-2007, 12:25 PM o ok... well if ya got a inside guy then thats a different story ;)
but id still write down the milage just to be safe...
didder 08-27-2007, 04:14 PM lol bass, someone has trust issues!
addiction2bass 08-27-2007, 04:22 PM ya when it comes to MY BABY ;)

+1 if anything ever happend to my little green goblin i dont know what ill do. [8D]
didder 08-27-2007, 05:42 PM lol, you guys are great
addiction2bass 08-27-2007, 06:03 PM well plus another SECURITY... .is what if thier shop gets broken into..... well if ya remove the computer from YOUR car.... well they cannt steal your car so easy.... instead of just hot wiring that sucker and driving it off if they want it they will have to tow it away which is a HUGE RISK...
ive heard of shops geting broken into alot where they steal stuff outta customers vehicles and most try that NOT RESPONSABLE crap posted... and thats one HUGE hassle you DONT wana go thru.
BUT in the end.... if the owner doesnt want to or feels safe enough... well its all on them. PERSONALY its a risk i dont ever wanna take! which is why i NEVER leave my civic ANYWHERE overnight other than close to be bed within paging distance with my alarms remote control ;)
BUT anyways.... back to the topic........
what ya done to the new civic lately ;)
didder 08-27-2007, 06:16 PM aarons cars so fast they would steal it torque steer into the first tree they come across, hed get insurance from it, and then build a newer cooler faster one..
lol
addiction2bass 08-27-2007, 06:25 PM could..... BUT i HIGHLY DOUBT he could get another KILLER deal like he got on this civic....
i know i WISH i could find a civic that cheap! im keeping my eye out tho! i want a manual coupe or hatch! hatch mainly just cause i love the looks. i just WISH the dealership hadnt sold the hatch i was originaly looking at last year. :(
or id be rocken it right now!
SovXietday 08-27-2007, 08:20 PM Got quoted for about $1800 for paint today, which isn't bad at all. Prepped, primered, painted, wetsanded and then buffed to a shine is what I'm promised for that price, and I've seen his work and it is stupid good. He's also making sure that I get what I need done so that nothing chips or rusts a few years later.

thats a f*ckload of money for paint but if u got it and atleast it will last
Sigracer10 08-27-2007, 09:49 PM thats an assload of money, but for what you are getting, its still a really good deal. my brother in law paints, and doing a full color change at cost will cost me somewhere around 1000 and thats doing all the work ourselves.
also likin the build a lot man. in fact just ran into a guy today selling a b18 gsr swap for a civic for 1800 with everything i need so hopefully i will have my own build thread sometime soon.
4doorcivic9 08-27-2007, 11:44 PM dannnngg 1800 for that? and entire paint change and all. WOW. I wanna go there. Anywhere around here to do a color paint change like that would cost anywhere between 3-5grand!! Where do you live sov? haha
didder 08-28-2007, 11:33 AM what would it run to just get a new same color paint job? i need one uber bad

Sure, I could go to Maaco and have them throw me a $500 paint job that has a single coat of primer and a quick spray with the color I want. That won't last for **** though. $1800 is for everything prepped correctly, all damaged fixed (sorry, forgot to add that it wasn't JUST paint) and everything coated, cleared several times, and then on top of that wet sanded and hard shine buffed. Most shops don't do the latter unless you're paying an assload of cash.
It's about on par with what I was expecting, the minor rust spots and dent pulls add to the price a bit too.
mill$civic 08-29-2007, 09:13 AM Its coming along so nice.
didder 08-29-2007, 01:38 PM if i could find a shop to do that all for me and keep my stock color i would jump on it in a freakin second...
great find wish i had hookupz like you
theblackpearl 08-29-2007, 08:01 PM what do they do when you say that you are gonna get your car prepped??
do you just fix dings and rust with bondo??
how do you "buff" the car??
sorry, but i usually paint my car myself and i don't know what those are
cpl rampage 08-30-2007, 05:15 AM Preping the car is not only fixng rust spots and dings, but sanding down the old paint so that the new paint can get a good bond with it. Taping up the windows etc. would also be prep.
buffing the car is to "polish" the finish to provide a better shine.
StifflersMom 08-30-2007, 06:51 AM one thing you don't want to do yourself is prepping the car...especially if you never practiced on a buddies car. Especially if you don't have power tools to sand the paint too...take it from a guy who spennt 8 hours sanding and about 3 hours primering and sanding a hood by hand....not only was it a PITA, I also didn't like the results. Paint is something I'll leave to professionals..
addiction2bass 08-30-2007, 11:47 AM definatly... unless you have ALOT OF TIME and your ok with your hands going numb from block sanding for SO LONG... then take it to a pro.LOL also you have to be good at FEELING imperfections... which im preaty good at personaly BUT I STILL HATE SANDING!!!!
ive done all my own painting 100% and its definatly a hassle to do it right!!!!! BUT if its NOT done right it will be visable!!!!
cause every MINOR imperfection that you can see after priming will be 300% WORSE after painted!!!!!!!
thats why it costs so much.... i mean i can do it BUT sometimes id just rather PAY to have it done... to bad i never have the cash tho.LOL
theblackpearl 08-30-2007, 07:21 PM yeah, i just used a power drill to sand everything off, it works pretty well. it was pretty easy to get off all the old paint on my fender and just get it down to bare metal, so it doesn't really take that long for me. i think my fenders turned out pretty well, it's just that i used the gloss black instead of the nighthawk black pearl that i'm supposed to use, but i can't tell the difference until i get one feet from the car to analyze the paint.
how do you "polish" the paint??
SovXietday 08-30-2007, 07:52 PM ORIGINAL: theblackpearl

Nooooo. Dings get pulled and smoothed, rust gets cut out and a new piece welded in and sanded smooth.

Who needs manual mirrors? Lol, set them once and you're done. The power mirrors are wired into the door harness, so it's wired for them I would just need to plug in the switches and bolt the mirrors in.
FlipHKD720 09-01-2007, 05:43 PM CF hood looks great, you have a date set for the paint??

if you wanted to you could add just the power mirrors without doing the entire conversion. you just need everything in the picture below. i just ran my own wire from the switch to the mirrors cuz the wire colors at the mirrors are exactly the same as at the switch, then ya just gotta run an ignition for powerand ground it. also i have a service manual thats got all the wiring diagrams in it so i knew the color codes.

ya i did it so that i could have the tweeter on the inside of the mirror cuz im an audio nut.and its really not hard to wire everything up, the hardest part is runing the wires through the grommet and hose from the door to the body. and if you want the wire schematic let me know and ill put it up.
and sov how long is it gonna be till the paint is done?

I got the fenders and headlights off too but by the time I got it done it was too dark to take pics. I'm getting out of school early tomorrow to work on the car again, so I'll take pics in the morning.
The reason I'm doing this is because I'm putting a 99-00 front end on the car. In order to do this I need to put new fenders on the car. Since they were bought straight from Certifit, the shop painting my stuff primered and painted the edges to keep the parts from rusting where they would never be painted (IE mounting points etc). So, tomorrow I have to mount the fenders, make sure it's where I want it to be, pull off the rest of the little **** and then drive the car down to the paint shop. Yup, that's right, I'll be driving it without bumpers, headlights, hood, grill, wheel wells, side mirrors, or door handles.
This should be hella funny. [8D]

SovXietday 09-30-2007, 07:30 PM 6K and I haven't even paid attention to the license plate holes in the bumper lol.
Ok, since my posts generally have some tech in them. The following was the painting process.
-Collect all of the parts. Since the front of the car needed some work I decided to change it to the 99-00 style front. In turn I needed to get the following.
99-00 fenders
99-00 front bumper
99-00 hood (in this case Seibon Carbon Fiber)
99-00 grill
99-00 front headlights
-Next I had to pull off any of the plastic or rubber molding parts off of the car. Side moldings, side skirts, wing, license plate holder, etc. The front bumper was then mocked up and cut up the way I wanted it. Did not want to go cutting a freshly painted bumper!
-I breifly mocked up the new parts and cut out the bumpers and made the necessary modifications to make everything fit roughly well so that I had to do limited modifying when I got everything back painted.
-Sent the 99-00 fenders, grill, front bumper, side molding, side skirts, spoon mirrors, license plate bracket, and any other little things that I wanted painted.
-Got the fenders back. They were trimmed out so that they A) wouldn't rust and B) would look best once on the car.
-Installed and fitted the fenders. Lined them up, and I also put the hood on breifly to make sure the body lines worked well. After I did this, I finished uninstalling all of the little things that I didn't before like the antenna, rubber roof strips, side mirrors, rear bumper, etc. Any reputable shop will want to paint bumpers SEPERATELY from the car, remember that!
-Drove the car to the shop and it was painted and the rust spots were fixed etc etc etc.
-Got the car back, drove it home and slowly and carefully reinstalled everything.
-Lips were installed with screws and double sided tape. The owner of the shop also gave me an can of "pro bond" that made the double sided tape something along the lines of super glue.
-Refitted the front bumper and had to cut some of the foglight bracket in order to get the bumper to fit correctly.
-Remounted the IC with a level and a ruler. I wanted it to be perfect and I made it so.
-Installed fog lights and HIDs.
Enjoyed!:)
johnny 10-01-2007, 06:28 AM All that work you did shows. The car looks like a dream.
I didnt even know you got rid of the ws2, i was going to say, it must hold back a lot of horsepower[8D]
Keep up the updates. I'm ready to hear the kills.
Fiirkan 10-01-2007, 07:00 AM i am gonna let it slide cause you didn't get a full ricer HID kit... but if you pull up next to a car with a retrofit you will see the difference:D lol

addiction2bass 10-01-2007, 05:21 PM HIDs are nice.... even without retrofit... the EXTRA light output is well worth it... plus lets face it the cars droped down so youll only blind anyone lower than you. LMFAO ive never got flashed...
tho downfall for me is one of my bulbs went bad and they sent me the wrong bulb temp... they sent me 8K BUT i like the slightly more blue.... so they said they would just sell me another 8K bulb for 45bucks... so now im just waiting to get paid and ill match 8K hids.LOL
but anyways...
about your HIDs did you HID the fog lights as well? ive wanted to do that for awhile BUT 200bucks is a preaty penny for just fogs...

i am gonna let it slide cause you didn't get a full ricer HID kit... but if you pull up next to a car with a retrofit you will see the difference:D lol
Car is lookin sexy man, i have to have a copy of those pictures when they get taken:D:D
Haha, oh I know what a real HID looks like. But I really don't have THAT much money to put into it. I wanted the HIDs because it's tough to see out where I live at night, and I must say they are doing their job quite nicely.
Ok guys, as promised, pics. Don't mind the little bits of dirt. I didn't get a chance to clean it when I took pics, just came home from school and snapped the pics. Picked up the bugs throughout the day lol.

When I get the time I'll do some urban shooting by myself and then when I finally get my wing in (ugh) I'll let my friends take pics with their good cameras. I have people coming left and right telling me that my car looks awesome, most of them I don't even know haha. But it's exactly what I was looking for, the car came out exactly like the image in my head which is hard for someone like me to pull off hahaha.
Overall I'm absolutely estatic about how everything turned out. I dropped by the paint shop today and the guy who painted it said that he was amazed how well it came out, he wasn't expecting it to turn out like it did.
Funny story. Today I went to open my door at school. Nothing, door wouldn't budge. The doorlock broke and the door is now frozen and won't budge. Awesome right? Tomorrow I'm taking it down to the shop and I get to drill the lock out heh. Thankfully I have a whole parts car sitting in my back yard. The coupe still haunts me, the door locks and window actuators (passenger side actuator is shot...) are starting to malfunction and I swear it's because the coupe is jealous of it's replacement LOL!
Ok, I'm rambling, enjoy guys! :)
Fiirkan 10-01-2007, 05:51 PM Sweet jesus, i want those urban pics when you get em:D... and are you getting a spoon wing or a TypeR wing?
SovXietday 10-01-2007, 06:05 PM Spoon I don't like the type R.

Yeah I hit right next to my college which is next to like 3-4 major highways lol. I haven't EVER come close to hitting one near my house yet, which is odd considering I have done over 90 on some of these backroads.
Chester99civicEX 10-17-2007, 05:08 PM just took the time and read both of your build threads starting with the other, when i read that one got in a wreck i was like dammmnnn:( and then after reading this thread all the way through and seeing how F***ing awesome your car looked i almost cried when i saw that picture:( before that it had to be the nicest hatch i had ever seen, hope you get it fixed and all pretty again, might eventually have some questions for you on your turbo build too, but probably not for a long time lol low on cash
johnny 10-17-2007, 06:05 PM Just don't give up and buy a Ford. No Offense remmy[8D]
ajfd90 02-04-2008, 03:56 PM I loved reading this thread as it was being worked on, whats happened to the civic since?
SovXietday 02-04-2008, 07:04 PM Not much, it's been away for winter. I actually finally just got the hood in today after 4 months of waiting. So now basically comes just rebuilding the turbo and fixing little things and then going for big boost and big numbers.:)

Reaching for the ban button....
Actually, the v6 ford i have is famous for lasting over 250k. They are actually known to outlast the v8 of the '04+ motors... yes, its really surprising. But what can ya say? Chain driven v6 ftw
