Default HELP! Engine idling to high

Was out gettin her some new tires. On my way home, i noticed it idling strangely. All of the sudden its idling at 4 grand whenever i push the clutch in! Just before i pulled into my driveway it went down but idled irratically. Idle timing perhaps? Any help would be appreciated!

New to Civics, not sure where the idle air control valve is .. is it on the throttle body?

If the IACV is not the culplrit, suggest to check out the timing belt. There is a possibility that there came a slack and jumped gears causing the high and then erratic idling.

Thanx guys! .. I'll pop off that valve and give her a cleaning tomorrow, prolly should replace the o-ring while im at it. Strange tho, drove it today an this evening and now it idles extremely low. At some points when its to high, i just "kick it down" (hit the gas) and it goes back down, but as soon as i start drivin, it goes back up. I guess the idle screw is out of the question or it'd be idling high all the time, not changing throughout the day. Whatever it is, its minor, will be glad to get her fixed i must say!

Was told it could be the throttle position sensor by a fellow '89 DX owner, hopefully that does it!
