Default Headlight issues

I have a 03 civic lx, the drivers side headlight low beam does not work but the high beam does. Not a bulb problem, put new ones in same thing happens. I got the chiltons or haynes manual for the wirng diagram to troubleshoot headlights circuit. Long story short, I can't seem to find the issue. This has been an issue for about 5 months now. At first when it went out, checked the bulb, not fixed. Then I hit a bump in the road it came on......but went out shortly after. I did not find any suspect connections that loose, etc. I brought the car to a stealership and said it was the Multi control unit that needed to be replaced at a cheap price of $519 for the part.

Question is has anyone experienced a similar problem? Also,I had a car starter installed...I know this ties into all those systems in some way or another. Could this be a loose/broken wire form the guy who installed the starter? I do not have a wiring diagram for the starter system so I can have a clue as to where it is tied in.

Any insight on this before I pay a zillion dollars to try 5 times to get it fixed.

With the light switch on, try wiggling the plug on the back of the bulb, also pull it off and look if it is melted or burned. I think there were some models with particularly bad plugs and Honda will replace them for free. If yours isn't one of those you can buy a new plug at a parts store and splice the wires into your car.

go get a test light, and check each individual wire through your plug. see if you're recieving any power when you switch from high to low.

I do not get power at the plug with the low beam on, but there is continuity from one end of the wire to the other (no break)
