Default Engine swap or intake/exhaust?

I have a 2003 Civic lx 4 door. I need more power in this car for of cource "sanctioned" street racing. I dont know wether to do an engine swap or just go with an intake and exhaust. Im on a smaller budget 700-800 and running paycheck to paycheck I know new engines are expensive but i dont know how expensive. Lemme know what you think. Thanks
john

$ 700-800 will NOT get you a swap. I say go I/H/E (intake, header, exhaust), and maybe a short shifter, and definately some suspension work.

Hey dude, sounds like me and you are in the same boat. I wish I had the money for a swap. I'm thinking of saving and just putting a turbo in it. It will probably be better in the end.

i'm taking my trans out within the next week, i'll sell it for $200 + shipping or i'll meet you halfway with it if you don't live forever far away. i blew my motor and i'm swapping in a whole new motor and trans. i have an 03 lx, everything on the trans is good and i have an extra throwout bearing i'll give you with the trans. let me know if you want it for a swap.

perhaps if you wanted a race car you should have budgeted better. i say, if you really want to add some horsies...save for a k20, youll have to convert to manual with it anyways. if not, def. go i/h/e. grab yourself some quality parts, maybe a nice suspension setup, some wheels and call it a day.
