Default 92-95 Cup Holder swap

Has anyone swapped out the crappy flip up cup holders in the EG? Ive heard the only way to do it is do an entire dash swap with it. Is that right? I liked the cup holders in my 98 so Im thinking of trying to make them fit somehow.

I like them...except they dont hold anything. Anything I put in them falls out as soon as I turn or even start to move! Im getting better with fiberglass so I might try to make it work this weekend.

+1

The cupholders are nice in the fact that you don't always have to look at them, but I have way too many soda stains on my carpet from cans falling over. Also, they won't hold a bottle of soda or anything so I always have to wedge it between the seat and e-brake.

I'd rather have cupholders that serve their purpose and are always visible than cupholders that are easily hidden but are often useless.

Indeed. I have some I got out of a 98 that actually do the intended job....hold cups. I just got a stain on the passenger seat because of those non-cupholders. So im going to see If I can manage to get them in there whether it takes fiberglass or cutting or something.

Notice that there is a cup holder and coin tray where the cd player normally goes.

I've read about doing that. those cupholders are from like a ford taurus or mercury sable right?
I want to do that but since I have a tan interior, if I bought the audio console I would probably want the whole thing including the armrest since you can only get the audio console in black and grey. I don't mind shelling out the 100 bucks for the part that connects the dash to the console, but it's pretty expensive for the whole thing. I wish I had grey or black interior. ugh

One time i bought a drink from QuickTrip and like i set it in the cup for like 2 seconds because i had to make a call, took the gradual turn out of the parking lot and *CRACK!* *SPLSHHHHHHHHH* the slushie goes everywhere.

I was pissed.

the 92-95 cupholders are absolutely ****tacular. they are even a pain in the *** when i tried to install my HU...i kept hitting it with my arm and theyd popup...drove me crazy so i just taped the whole thing down.
