I've done quite an extensive amount of reearch on the overheating problem with the Honda Civic 1995 model. As soon as I bought my car, I no sooner got it off the lot, and the guage went past H/Red.

The dealer towed it back, and said it was the tranny. Is that possible? The tranny was shiufting smoothly, and it drove fine. They're replacing the tranny for free...I asked them to do the water pump and timing belt also. It has 104,000 miles on it, 4-dr, AC, PS, PL, CD Stereo, PW, Automatic, Blue with new tires. I paid $2000.

I've read quite a bit on the overheating and most everybody's is the water pump, thermostat, radiator, or head gasket. What would make them think Tranny? I'm not a car guy...to be perfectly honest...I know diddly, I'm just trying to get information.

Thanks,

Dan

hey man.. um when i had probs with my 94 civic dx overheating right when i bought it. we thought it could be a headgasket... so we went to this one honda place and asked he tech guy and he looked in the engine and bam automacticly he said u have a broken radiator.. and so we got it fixed and now its good.. but i never heard of a auto tranny makin a car overheat.// thats real strange.. unless that honda dealer is tryin to get money outta u i dunno but thats my 2 cents

My 98 Civic HX overheats when idling, but not driving down the road. This happens when the AC on. Thermostat going out or problems with cooling system?
