i have a honda civic 2000 sir and i want to now how to chage the time belt becouse my time belt crash and the time is dead how can i put my time belt on time ?

 

If it's a SOHC, set the cam pulley so "UP" is at the top and the two slash marks on the sides are even with the top of the head casting. There may be another slash mark which should be even with the plastic arrow.

Then set the crank to TDC, there is a mark on the crank timing belt sprocket for that, set the marked tooth even with the arrow on the engine (oil pump). Or take the #1 spark plug out and probe with a rod in the hole, turn crank so piston is all the way up.

Install the timing belt, loosen the tensioner bolt so the spring is holding it against the belt. Rotate the crank counterclockwise (normal direction of rotation) by hand to take the slack out of the belt. Tighten tensioner bolt. Rotate crank a few turns counterclockwise and bring it back to TDC, make sure marks still line up.

Then put the covers and outer pulley on, and hoping that your valves aren't damaged, start it up.

 

^^^SiR is canada's equivalent to our Si, so it's DOHC

 

Not sure about those then but I think they have similar marks on the cam sprockets, set both cams of course.

from the cam gears to the distributor, the order of cylinders is 1, 2, 3, 4
from the side view of the distributor, let "+" represent the the distributor wire pattern.
the bottom of the "+" is for cylinder 2. going clockwise, starting at the bottom of the "+" it is 2, 1, 3, 4
