I was told by the dealership that Honda has not started making any manual transmission for the 2009 model year. Is this correct?

Is this correct? trustdestruction 10-14-2008, 12:36 PM I don't think that's true. You can already build and order a new Civic with a manual transmission on Honda.com Peg_Leg 10-14-2008, 01:02 PM the 09's have manual transmissions the dx/lx/ex have 5 speeds the si 6 speed climbermatt 10-14-2008, 02:42 PM The guy at the dealership said that they will start manufacturing the new civics with the manual transmissions in November and would be released in December. This excludes Si's. I also haven't seen an 09 with a manual yet. climbermatt 10-14-2008, 02:53 PM Sorry, I just talked to another dealership in a different area and they said they could get a manual in any model right now. The dealership in San Luis Obispo are not well informed in this area. Peg_Leg 10-14-2008, 04:06 PM i was just at a honda dealer here in east tenn they had 3 si coupes 3 lx coupes 4 ex coupes all manuals. and they have a few manual sedans whtrastaman 10-15-2008, 04:08 AM that dude is full of **** driftingfan 10-15-2008, 05:59 PM Im sure you can get a 09 with a manual, those sell more then autos. Plus 09 model has been out for sometime now. Go to honda website and see if you can build a 09 civic with a manual climbermatt 10-16-2008, 10:39 AM The guy is full of s***. I went to a dealer from my home town in santa rosa, CA and I will have it in a couple of days. I thought it was very wierd that the dealership in San Luis Obispo, could get any manuals. Dekan 10-17-2008, 08:40 AM I believe my stealer already has a 2009 manual DX-VP on the lot. http://tkcarsites.homenetinc.com/ClassicHondaofStreetsboro/details2.asp?vehicle_id=H12600 So, yeah, manual transmissions are available already for 2009.... mk378 10-17-2008, 12:41 PM When a guy wants to buy a radish but all that you have are turnips, you do everything you can to sell the guy a turnip before he goes down the block and finds that another guy's produce cart had radishes all along. Nice analogy. trustdestruction 10-17-2008, 04:19 PM yea but if i really wanted a radish i'm not going to settle for a turnip. no way, no how! driftingfan 10-17-2008, 04:41 PM What does a radish have to do with a car? trustdestruction 10-17-2008, 04:47 PM What does a radish have to do with a car? it's an analogy driftingfan 10-17-2008, 04:49 PM Thanks trust didnt know that :P But couldnt there be a better one? RonJ 10-17-2008, 04:57 PM Thanks trust didnt know that :P But couldnt there be a better one? FYI analogy n. , pl. -gies . Similarity in some respects between things that are otherwise dissimilar. driftingfan 10-17-2008, 05:11 PM I think why that I failed English :) gwl 10-17-2008, 06:53 PM I never listen to dealers on what not available, they trying to sell the cars on their lot. If they don't have it another dealer will find it for you. PunisherInOKC 10-18-2008, 11:43 AM See.. what you had was either 1: A dumb salesman who was not informed that the standards are available.. 2: A salesman that was going to try to order you a standard in at a higher cost - getting him a larger % of the sell. The problem with Honda dealerships is you've got good ones, and bad ones. I have 4 or 5 within a 30 minute radius from my house. I will drive to the one that is 30 minutes away over the one 10 minutes EVERY time. The one 10 minutes away treats people like crap, and acts like they don't need to make that sell. On the other hand - the shop 30 minutes away is very warm, nice, and friendly. AND the parts lady is cute. =P comp2x2 10-18-2008, 10:32 PM It's funny you should mention the SLO dealership climbermatt...as I was just there today. I'm looking to get a EX-L sedan, in royal blue pearl, with a manual transmission. They told me that they (Honda) aren't making any sticks right now and that the earliest they're going to be making them is December....but even that was just a maybe. And they said it wouldn't arrive until sometime in January, which seems like forever, since I've already been waiting over a month. They said that Honda did make one like I want, but it was in NY and sold a few weeks ago. They said if there were to be any models made like I want that they would try to get a hold of it for me...but that they simply weren't making any manual transmissions right now (for the non-SI's). I've sat in a '09 at the SLO dealership with a stick, but it wasn't the model or color I want. Do you guys think that I could get a manual EX-L in Royal Blue Pearl at another dealership? If so, why would my local dealership be telling me otherwise? climbermatt 10-19-2008, 07:34 AM I don't know what is up with the SLO dealership. I went back home to the bay area and got my 09 manual sedan and I love it. I would definitely would call up other dealers if you want to get a manual because they are around. They are rare in California right now but you should be able to get what you want. |
