Hey whats Up guys I have a 96 Honda civic but its a Automatic, I have a 1.6l non vtec d16y7 only 106 h/p, But the thing is My civic is a 4dr and its only for show. But it is too damn slow for me I really want a lil faster car not the fastest or anything I just want to be able to move a lil faster when i want to pass someone or somehting you know? But I also Want to keep it automatic. Let me KNow what I can do to this Engine to make it faster or what I could do to it ? I swapped my Y7 out for this and love it.I will tell ya you need to get away from the Y7 and the Auto tranny or it will not get out of it's own way.I am running mid to high 15's with my D15B in my 98 civic sedan at damn near 90mph(around 88mph).I have nothing other than bolt ons.I am close to going turbo with uberdata

why do you want to stay sohc? I have to agree sacicons on this one. the b18b is a killer non vtec dohc swap. bolt ons are better for the dohcs. and the price isnt bad at all! you would have alot of money still to blow on the rest of the car.

Why stay SOHC?
Cause not everyone needs or wants a 300+whp monter of a honda.I bought my JDM D15B for $420 shipped with a new timing belt,belt tensioner,and water pump.I now am boosting and hitting mid to low 14's for right around the price I would have spent on a B18B swap.
It's funny when a sinle slam spanks on a dohc swap for half the amount of money

1.6 non VTEC? I tought 1.5 was the non VTEC and 1.6 were..or am I just stupid?

The JDM D15B is a sohc 1.5 vtec. Much like the D16Z6 with a slightly shorter stroke and the ability to make power higher in the rpm range. Also will accept aftermarket D16 rods and pistons where a usdm d15 will not

The car looks good and all but it SCREAMS FOR A FRIGGIN PAINT JOB. Now, that out of the way. Score an intake, header, and exhaust. After that, swap out the intake manifold to jegs or d16Y8 (if its possible) then drop in a hella good turbo or supercharger.
