Default Not a honda, but a fan ;)

Hey guy's, what's up!

My names Matt, I'm from Montreal Canada, woohoo. I don't have a Honda, I have a g5 gt, but I love honda's none the less, I drive my friends SI all the time, and right now we are in the process of getting it to 250 whp without forced induction, and we're going to get it tuned so the V-Tech kicks in much sooner, lack of torque kinda sucks :P

Anyways, I drive a Pontiac G5 Gt, a lot of modifications are coming in this summer, ie.: Coil Overs, strut and sway bars, custom made headers, dp, exhaust, supercharger, 18 inch rims, Nitrous, cams, and more.

I joined this forum because the g5 forum lacks information, and I just read an article here about back pressure on exhaust that was 100% correct and it is that kind of information I need.

Civics FTW, unless your driving a G5

Useful site regardless of what car you drive = +1
Cool People = cvcrcr99 lol j/k

Welcome to HCF! You ever think about getting a project car to work on in your spare time? An EG (92-95) hatch shell would be nice and cheap!

Yeah Pontiac DID go under unfortunately, but all that means to me is that the Pontiac will be a collectors item in several years Also, all the performance parts and warranty parts are the same as the cobalt SS, so I'm good, and thanks everyone for the warm welcome

You do realize that is one of the stupidest things you can do, right?

You can't just lower the VTEC (that's how you spell it...) engagement point and expect to gain power. VTEC engages when it does for a reason.

VTEC≠power
properly set VTEC=power

The only way to tune VTEC for power gains is to dyno the car with VTEC set to engage after redline (so that it won't engage) and then again with VTEC set to engage as early as possible. Then you take the two dyno charts and lay them on top of each other, and set VTEC to engage at the point where the two HP curves cross.

The reason to set it so it kicks in sooner is because for some reason, when honda was making the SI, the must have forgotten to put a sufficient amount of torque lmfao. Im in a pontiac, at 173 hp stock, the si has 195 and i can take it till 4th gear, why? It lacks torque, a hell of a lot, and by the time the VTEC kicks in im already ahead.
