I will say it again. You will only gain power from adjusting VTEC if it is adjusted properly. Simply lowering it will do more harm than good, you will LOSE power. You have to do it right for it to help.

It lacks torque because it's a stock 4 cylinder 2.0L engine, of course you can take it in your G5.

The VTEC will be adjusted properly, my friend works for a tunning company and gave us permission to all the tools, dyno, etc.

Ah. How do you know that it will need to be lowered? It's possible that it could need to be raised.

Well, it is a possibility that it could be raised, but doing so would make the VTEC last longer, when in retrospect, I want it to kick in sooner. This will be a fun build, I will keep everyone posted. My team is hoping to achieve 250+ to the wheels without forced induction.

But WHY do you want it to engage sooner?

You're not understanding... setting the VTEC point to engage sooner without using the dyno method isn't going to help, it will only make things worse. Do you even know how VTEC works?

You can't just be like, "oh i want torque, i'll just make VTEC engage sooner".
VTEC does not equal power!

By setting VTEC to engage in the wrong spot, you will create a flat spot in your HP and TQ curves. VTEC is suppose to be a smooth crossover.

Hey bro, Trust is right. Lowering the vtec engaging point will not help you. Honda put it right where it needs to be. The engine produces the max power up to a certain point, then vtec engages to continue the power. If you set vtec to engage sooner than that point, you LOSE the max power your engine can make.
