pros
1. its an EF, EF's are sexy (^he agrees)
2. its an Si, Si's are sexy
3. since its older it's cheap, youre getting a sexy car for cheap
4. since other people also still think these cars are sexy parts are still being made for it
5. It's a stick shift

cons
1. its an older car it can need work
2. its an older car it probably is rusty

I am a complete noob. I do not know if it is sohc or dohc. The kid couldnt tell me either!! I took many pics only two were decent.(taken on phone). He says it has a ecm or whatever. So what does that mean? thanks again. Hungry for any and all info.

also he tried to tell me it is running 180 hp!! and all that is modded i believe is a cold air intake! Is that possible? Oh and the exhaust. and it is a five speed manual. 2 door.

it looks like a sohc zc
but the pics were super tiny
and thats a short ram intake that plus exhaust you might be at 110bhp (108 stock i believe)
how does the exhaust sound?
is it loud and raspy or quiter and deeper?
cuz if its loud and raspy and the kid thought it had 180hp he probably drove the sh!t out of that car

wow quick reply thanks. The exhaust is pretty decent not too loud and sounds nice and clean. I would have to say it is more quiet and deep. I am sorry if i am making helping difficult with the lack of info. I could maybe e mail them full size to ya? or try again on here. thanks again.

sweet lol. she has alot of km on the body i believe 250 roughly but he is telling me the engine was replaced with what u see around 80 thousand km ago. I dunno to believe him or not.? asking 1500. agreed on 1100. i drove her today and she feels strong. im just trying to gather as much info before i commit. and he said nothing was wrong till i got there little bugger lol. e brake cable, no horn, little crack windshield, and expected rust spots and bubbles scattered on the body.

oh yeah and what is this ef?

hamorhead

thats only 155k miles thats not even half of its life for a well maintained honda
do you know how many miles (or km) the engine has on it? not just how long ago it was replaced? (which is completely possible people love swapping honda engines)
e-brake cables easy fix
windsheild $200 fix
rust spots and bubbles? how bad?
otherwise sounds ok but can't give a definite yes/no without seeing the car

EF is the 4th generation civic/crx they were made between 1988-1991

sohc zc is 120 hp. Same engine as the Si D16a6 (i think) but it has a more aggressive camshaft giving it that extra 10 hp.

same engine i have.

All the parts, if you need to replace them will be the same as a Civic Si so thats good. Reason I asked is because the DOHC ZC is a pain in the ass to find parts for.

sorry i think i typoed lol. the odometer reads 250 000 km he said the engine is only 80 000km old. ill attach a pic of the car cant really tell how bad the rust is from pic but it is pretty bad. bubbling too all over the place. Im thinking in the future ima strip it all down and clean up the whole body and paint her again.

as long as your fine with repainting and theres no structral damage from the rust go for it
it looks like its lowered do you know anything about that? how did it ride? you wanna make sure its not cheap crap like ebay coilovers

Mgurica
08-31-2009, 06:42 PM
tockico red adjustable coilovers what he says they are. and i know nothing of lowering! and it drove pretty decent. No power steering at all! but wasnt as hard as strong arm. wierd. He gave me a bunch of receipts from the past ten years. the girl who owned it put thousands into maintenance and check ups up grades i dunno how they let the body go to ****. shame. but yeah the rust has eatin its way in pretty deep in that spot u might seen in the pic right side above the wheel. it will take long time but she is going to be my bb. lol

Mgurica

oh yeah it actually scrapped a bit over a speed bump . i would rather it not do that lol

hamorhead
08-31-2009, 06:48 PM
yea my EF doesnt have power steering there so light they dont need it and if theyre actually coilovers (ive never heard of the ones youre saying but Tokicos a good brand) you can set the ride normally from 1" to 4" lower than stock
and it sounds like they took good care of the drivetrain

**** this is wicked would have taken days on google(days more!) to figure this stuff out. I think i am gonna go ahead with her i really like the car and the engine is strong. All the minor problems i am sure i will have with the body are it. Im pretty much paying for the engine and tires anyways.
