What engine comes in the 99' DX hatch is it a good engine to modify or would i be better off saving for a swap. Im not looking for anything crazy maybe like 150-180 whp cause it feels like its runnning like 50 whp.

 

save up for a swap. its more cost effective in the long run. or just a very mild turbo on yours.

 

do u know the engine code so i can start researching? Also my moter has 85,000 would it still be safe to mild turbo. Thanks in advance.

 

mild turbo, yes. you have the d16y7, and you can get a turbo kit for a d16y8 and it will work. but youll have to do something with the throttle body. it needs to face sideways like the EX. you can swap on the ex manifold. that would fix it.

 

i have the same car. im hoping within two years i can drop a B18C1 GSR or a B18C type R engine in it with some bottom end mods...but being on the unemployment line sucks

 

thats mad funny we have teh same exact car mine is still totally stock as well. thanks for the input sacions very helpful still not sure what route im gonna take yet though that turbod16.com video got me hype on a turbo. my problem is there are no good shops to bring my car to that would do a turbo or swap. I may have to bring my car down to nyc wich i really dont wanna do.
