Default 95 Civic ex

Looks like I'm gettin one this weekend. It's a little rough- hail damage wise and needs a starter. Interior is in pretty good shape from what I noticed.

Now, here is the weird part, I'm trading a Tmaxx R/C truck for it.
Haven't used it in over 5 years so why not? 8)

Ok got the car.
But looking like it's more than a starter. I'm thinking more major.
So what would be the damages on a broken timing belt/motor locked up?
Cheapest way to fix? Rebuit head? Or whole motor?

lets see some pics of the car. And also, pics of the engine bay. If the timing belt snapped, it may have valve and piston damage. Might need a new head or whole engine. If its hydrolocked, get a new motor.

Remove the spark plugs and try to crank the engine-- if it is hydrolocked that should let the water out of the cylinders and allow it to turn. Generally when the timing belt fails, the crank will still be able to spin but the valves could be damaged and you wouldn't get any compression. If you can't get the crank to turn at all the bearings have probably seized (e.g. running without oil) and replacing the whole engine would be required.

As it is now, it isn't hydro-locked. when I try to start it, you can tell the motor is trying to turn but isn't. Something is stopping it.
I will try and snap some pics. I'll be trying to remove valve cover and then possibly the head and go from there.
Right now money is really tight. Work has taken a nose dive. But looks like hope is on the horizon.

Work on 95 halted for now. Replacing the a/c compressor on my 99. Way to freakin hot to drive around without it.

How hard is it to get the head off while still in car? Been a long time since I've done motor work on one of these.....
