Soo i've been searching and nothing has come up yet.
My car was stolen exactly a year ago today and ever since then I've never got it fixed.
What they did was pop the ignition? if that's the right term.. basically it looks like they jammed something in there and got it started. The steering column is bent basically it looks about 30 degrees tilted to the right. it sits off balance and the ignition slightly hangs.
I don't have any pictures as of now, maybe later tonight.
I was just wondering if this could easily be fixed by replacing the whole steering column? or would they take it out and re align it? anyone have any info on this..?
Thanks.

you know thats funny... i just bought a civic that has a replaced ignition (only reason i know that is the key wont fit the door) and the wheel is tilted about 45 deg. to the right....
So i would also like to see some info on this.
I though the alignment could have just been way off or something....

If it looks broken, easiest thing IMO is to swap out the steering column with one from a junk yard. I've dropped mine twice and it's surprisingly easy to do. You may have to do some work on the ignition or take that part to a dealership to get the thing keyed for your car.

It's not hard at all to replace the whole column. The only tricky part is not breaking the clock spring. which will happen if it gets out of sync with the rack (e.g. rotating the wheel while column is not linked to the rack). Also you need to follow the instructions about air bag safety exactly. I suggest remove the air bag, wheel, and clock spring from the replacement column while it is still in the parts car. Then take the column out and put it in your car and put the clock spring and wheel on while the rack and front wheels are set to straight ahead.
