car wont start... HELP ASAP (ONLY CAR)
ok i was drivin to a car meet last night and all of a sudden while goin 40-45mph and on 5th gear, my car started sputtering and then i heard a pop (not that loud more like as loud as an exhaust does when theres a leak) and my car turned off. it'll crank but wont start... tried push startin it and wont work.
my friend was followin me on his 95 civic ex and he got a screw driver and checked the spark plug wires for any spark... no spark wats so ever. he tapped on the main relay while tryin to start it and nothin. we were thinkin it could either be: distributor, main relay, ignition control module, or the igntion rotor inside the cap. anyone know how to test these things to brake it down to wat it could be?

It could also be a stripped timing belt. Your first check should be to make sure that the cam rotates when you crank. Another common failure is to have the rotor come unscrewed and go out of time.
If it's an electrical problem, mostly it is the coil that dies while driving not the ICM. But it could be either.

i took off my distributor cap and saw everything inside became light brown burnt lookin, and in side the cap were peices of this green/light green stuff. i dont know wat it is but i did see this black box lookin thing that has a positive and a negative wire comin from the ICM connected to it and has this long tube nipple lookin thing that looks similar to the ones where u connect the wires on the cap. now i dont know wat this part is called but that tube thing is cracked. can that be replaced or do i have to get a new distributor? i'll try to post a pic up later

That part is the ignition coil. It is one piece all the way from the base with the small wires to the tower part. Having it cracked is very likely to kill the spark, so replace it.
Did you check for rotation? The rotor should rotate when you crank the engine.
