pretty dumb question but what is the difference between the ek and ej?

i always thought 1996-2000 civics were ek.....

EK refers to any 96-00 civic. However, EJ is a bit more specific. When coupled with a number, it refers to a specific trim of civic.

For example, my '94 EX was an EG, but at the same time it was an EJ1.

a...... ok... i always kinda wondered that as well....
guess i have a EJ6 and a EJ8
