which engine?
#11
RE: which engine?
I need to think about it more, but I might be swaying back towards the h22. I'm just worried about the difficulty of the swap (especially since this is my first swap). I ran the numbers, and even with an lsd transmission, it'll be around $4k all said and done (which I guess is in my price range)
I would love to actually know what torque feels like

RE: which engine?
since this is your first swap i would just get the b18c with an lsd tranny, its alot easier of a swap than the h22 and will be better for your first time because a lot of stuff just drops right in and plugs right up

RE: which engine?
okay, so I've decided I'm definitely going with a b18c. I just want the swap to be as simple as possibly, since this is my first one. But fear not, Method... an h22 eg is still in my plans (I'll probably try to find a cheap hatch next fall or so and start saving for the swap after winter).
Anyway, so here's my dilemma:
Do I get a full swap (with lsd) from HMO? Because there's a kid on H-T that wrecked his hatch (and is consequently parting it out), and he has a gsr swap w/b16 trans (no lsd) with an ls 5th gear... he wants $2500 for it. I figure it would cost him like $200-$300 to ship it to PA, which would still be cheaper than just the b18c swap from HMO. Not to mention the wiring harness and everything would already be done for me, meaning I could literally just drop the engine in.

RE: which engine?
sounds like a good deal. You might want to pick up a radiator from a 99-00 si or just get an aftermarket one, I hear the stock radiators don't work well with the swap. Is he going to send you the axles aswell as shift linkage? Good luck should be fun with it I can't wait till I got the funds to do the same swap

RE: which engine?
well I need to email him about the swap still (ive emailed him about the stuff ill need for the trans. conversion). I'm just worried about the condition of the engine he has... from HMO, (with their reputation), you basically know you're getting a decent engine.

RE: which engine?
True dat, I was surfing hondaswap.com and came across some people selling b18c's, you might find some deals there http://hondaswap.com/search.php?searchid=417684I might pay the extra money aswell on HMO knowing that what I'm getting is in good condition... but you never know.

I know you already made your decision reaper. I was just going to let you know that I had always wanted to have a b18 swapped civic, until i drove one of each. Let me tell you , an h22 in an e is a helluva good time. I LOVED it.!
