Yeah, on a lightweight FF car, you're looking at 250whp before traction becomes a huge issue. With a D16z6/D16y8, you can hit 250whp on the stock bottom end.

Basically, my vote is build the D and boost it.

that's pushing it pretty far, most people kill the rod between 220-240 whp. only the lucky few make 250whp and i'm not even sure if that will lost quite a bit.

but yeah, i agree with the other that you should just fix the d and boost it. you'll have a blast with a very safe 200 whp and if you ever want more, all you really need is pistons, rods, bearings, headstuds, and you should be good to 400 whp if you can get that much out of your setup.

d16 rods give out? i know d15 rods are sh!te, but i would imagine a spun bearing or detonation from a poor setup killing the mill, not a broken rod.

yeah, all d-series rods are pencils, i swear i'm not pulling this out of my ***. i'll try to find proof

edit: here

one says 200 is the max, one says 250, i prefer to play it safe and keep boost at 200 whp

Either way, the D-series is more than capable of making enough power to muscle a grin onto your face.

Even 200whp in a 2200lb car isn't too shabby.
