I would like to hear from all you D16Y7 engine owners out there. how does your car perform? what sorts of mods are you using? does this engine have any potential for racing?

the y7's not the best for modding or racing, but its possible. better to stick the y8 head on top then boost it.

anybody got any links to any good CAIs that are under 100$?

blackhatch, is low 16s considered good for a civic? what kind of stock cars could you take out with your modded y7?

where could I find just the y8 head? How much would it cost? would i get any HP out of switching heads? I dont think boost is going to happen in this car (its my GF and she would say NO).

yes you would gain power form a head swap, and check ebay. get the intake manifold too. you dont have to, but its better. and for a modded single cam civic, yeah, low 16s are pretty good. with a DOHC, expect mid to low 15s, or even high 14s, mostly stock. the y8 head swap, done right, could put it close to 15s.

ok i found some d16y8 heads on ebay for rather cheap. which of these would you recomend for the mini-me head swap?

why does the last one look different from the other 2 heads?

how hard is the head swap to do, can i finish it in a day?

is there going to be extra wear and tear on my engine if i do the swap?

the third ones a scam. hes asking a little too much for it, but then he says its rebuilt. the only thing he has going for him is he takes paypal. but NEVER buy anything from anyone with 0 feedback. maybe if you can pick it up, but i dont know how close you are. the second one looks a little rough.

the first 2 look pretty good, but youll need the valve cover too, so look for one of those too, also, i dont think the 2nd one comes with a vtec solenoid, the first one does. if you want one of these, go for the first one. i'd keep loking though. and pay special attention to the feedback, and dont buy anything from anyone who doesnt take paypal.
