some people apparently had issues with the head lifting using ARP head studs. i had this issue, anyways. a few heat cycles and I started leaking.

I went and re-torqued the head studs. they were about 5-or-so ft-lbs off from spec. I torqued them down to 85 ft-lbs and we will see how long that lasts.

So far, I'm not pushing coolant, and no new oil has splattered on the transmission. I'll do a compression test and see how healthy the motor is as well. I was hitting only about 180 on each cylinder prior to re-torquing them.

And, damn, I installed that ITR manifold... big difference compared to whatever was on there before.

My tires spin when I slam it into second. Well... they hop.

And, FINALLY, Explicit Speed Performance emailed me and said my traction bar has been shipped out!!! Woop! I can't wait.

Apparently I'm really lucky and my car has bolt holes for the rear sway bar. I'm completely shocked. It's a DX... it shouldn't have them. WEIRD. But yeah my rear sway bar is installed.

I've installed my traction bar as well. I didn't have to widen any holes, it fit absolutely perfect. The b16 is running pretty swell now. Compression test was around 190-200 on all cylinders. I'm pretty satisfied. About 1500km on the motor so far.

There was a local meet and a picture of my car surfaced... Credit to the photographer.

Turtle wax black box is pretty much amazing.

I park the civic pretty soon here. I'm going to use the eBay turbo kit and see what happens this winter... I've got 550cc injectors, Hondata and a wideband. Why not, right?

Glad to hear everything is working right! Looks really clean. Also very interested to see what this eBay kit does for you, heh

Well things changed.

This one pic should sum it up.

Well I've started this h22 swap. I'm using an LSD hydro B series transmission, jdm H22a, $20 balance shaft delete, QSD adapter plate... My major goal was to keep a stock frame rail. That's the Bisimoto drag header. The Bisimoto badge wasn't even fully welded on. It's garbage. I'll be upgrading to one of these sometime soon...

Mmmm... functionality.

So I started with a balance shaft delete, consisting of metal dowels and frost plugs.

Then I had to get rid of the pathetic auto tensioner... I've heard horror stories about it. Poof! gone. H23 manual tensioner and shorter bolt.

For the longest time, I didn't have the EF/DA mount for the QSD kit, I had the EK mount... Had to order a new one from QSD. While I was at it, I got my accord pulley shaved down, and the balance shaft pulley shaved down to a spacer. My parts finished at the machine shop the same day my package from QSD showed up.

The pulley is shaved to a single belt pulley, with 4-5mm off the backside of the pulley. It is also a 4 rib pulley VS the prelude 5 rib. I really wanted the frame rail clearance and every MM counts with this swap...

I love shiny parts.

So I fit the motor in with the new mounts... and this is what I ended up with.

Well... :/
It wasn't that bad. Not as good as I expected, but way better than it would have been. Imagine the pulley 5mm -> that way. Most EF guys cut a pocket for the pulley... I didn't want to.

A few minutes with my BFH, and I had the desired clearance. The frame only needed a few MM of denting and it fit so nicely!

I had to slightly modify my cable to hydro bracket to fit... but it fits and functions nicely now.

I also started mocking up my brake upgrade. New caliper bracket and mock up pads on the stock 9.5" rotor.

With the Legend dual piston calipers.

... I hope to have it running by springtime.

I need to get my strut bar powdercoated, same with the valve cover, and maybe the intake manifold. My Scirocco rad needs relocating, and my overflow needs a proper mounting bracket. The h22 is wired up, but my car is getting 0 power whatsoever from the battery. It's disappointing, as it is a PC680 and not a cheap battery.

Very nice upgrade.

Why not use a B series trans? the H's gears are going to be really hing for such a lite car like yours.

Oh, do u think your stock hood will close?

I am using a b series trans, as well as the qsd kit.

It's an ITR lsd hydro trans.

Looks great man, love the motor and car. I had a h22 in a 98 civic built all motor and i loved it for the month it worked. What happened to the b16? I want any b series for my ef and im leaving it stock this time with the exception of I/H/E.

That sounds like a nice set up.

I had a very good friend who had something very similar, man that this was quick. To bad he sold it.
