Question 2001 Civic Intermittent Cluster

My wife has a 2001 Civic EX MT. The cluster gauges started intermittently working a couple of years ago. At first it wasn't all that frequent, but now they are off more than they are on. The lights (including CEL) work, but the gauges all stay at 0 and mileage isn't shown.

I was ready to just replace it (seems like most of the forum posts I've read indicate that was successful), but this week the APO (cigarette lighter outlet) also stops working when the cluster isn't working.

I'm know suspecting a ground/wiring problem. What is a little confusing is I would think the dash and the console would be on different circuits and have different grounds. The radio isn't affected and always works.

Any ideas? Anyone have similar issues?

TIA,
Shannon

Have all the fuses and relays been checked over?

Chances are it is a bad ground that is causing your issues.
