Default mis-fire at 1,500 to 2,000 rpm

I have a 97 civic LX 1.6 with 261K miles that misfires between 1500 and 2000 rpm typically in 4th or 5th gear. Replaced the coil, dist cap and rotor. Plugs and leads were also replaced a couple of years ago, as well as an intake cleaning. No check engine light, and runs great apart from the misfire. It's a recent purchase so I don't know the history apart from that, but I do know the garage who maintained the car for the last 3 years or so, - They told me about the plugs and recommended changing the dist cap, ETC.

The spark wires are the most fragile part, especially if they are aftermarket. Some of those don't last long at all.

Thanks, I'll check the wires.
I've noticed that the misfire is better, or even non-existent when the engine is cold; could it be fuel / air mixture related?

Ignition is more critical when the engine warms up and the computer leans out the mixture to save fuel and reduce emissions. When it is cold it runs a rich mixture to stay running better.

New wires fixed the problem. Thank you.
