Default Honda Civic vs. Subaru Impreza

In a race, which car would you choose: Honda Civic or Subaru Impreza? I've heard the Impreza can hold it's own against the Civic when it comes to speed mostly because it carries a bigger engine. I assume you would have to mod it out to match the Impreza's performance... what kind of customizations would you make to boost the Civic's speed?

Civic

vs.

Impreza

Are we talking just a standard impreza, or like a WRX or STI? And depends on the civic, I wouldnt buy any civic other than a 92-00 model unless it was an EP Hatch Si.

I personally would pick the subaru. Always been a fan, especially the STI.

Say an '00 - '01 WRX and a late 90's Civic Si.

@stoochy
Agreed, I've always preferred the subaru myself.

When you say late 90's, do you mean an EK (99-00) Si, or like a '95 Si hatch? If the 92-95 Si was stock, it would get spanked. Probably would be a semi-close race in a 99-00 though, all depends on the driver, but I think the Civic would probably get beat. I might be able to hang with a stock WRX in my '99. An STI though, no wayy...

If you have money to buy a newer civic, you can get a 04/05 S2000 for that price if you like it

I personally don't like either of those options, but get what you like. Test drive each if you want.
