Throttle Position Sensor removal/install
Hi, I'm new to the forum. But I see that you seem to know alot about the throttle body's on civics. I have a 99 honda civic, and I see how you are changing the sensor, I was just wondering if you could tell me how calibrate the new sensor?
Is it possible the TPS could be bad, even though the CEL is not on? I know for certain the CEL works. When idling, the engine idles close to 2000 rpm, but will fluctuate up and down, idle rough, and occasionally drop so low the engine will die. This is on a 91 Civic LX.
Try cleaning the FITV and bleeding the cooling system.
---------
Bleeding the cooling system:
1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.
2) Push the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat.
3) Follow the directions in the diagram below (hint: the bleed bolt is located where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine):
FITV is what I was going to do after the IACV but then I pulled codes and got a code 7. Will try that today if I have the time.
No codes as of the installation of a new TPS. Drove about 10 miles. Is there a certain "learning" speed for the ECU? I know some cars have to be driven at 40 for 3 miles or something.

You should reset the ECU after replacing and calibrating the TPS, though idle surging is never normal. Bleed the cooling system and clean/adjust the FITV.
