Install lowering springs yourself
Im curious. Ive taken a look at my suspension, and i know i can install the springs myself. The question is, am I an idiot for thinking so? if not are there any special tools that I would need, besides the obvious (socket set and a couple wrenches, and maby and allen key or two. I saw a pic with a bracket on a spring, looked to be what i would call a spring compression unit or whatnot. either way, would i need one of those??

You're going to want a spring compressor.
Or you can have Marnie explain how to do it the fun way.:D |
RE: Install lowering springs yourself
you might need a tie rod seperator too but that will run you like $10

Or you could have a freind/neighbor/anyone over 150 pounds to put some weight on the spring while you unscrew the bolt.

RE: Install lowering springs yourself
I just installed lowering springs on my civic this weekend. Its pretty easy to do, even for a 16 year old who has just started figuring out a civic. Beware of the bolt holding the strut on the control arm. It likes to break if your not careful. Play it safe and take the whole piece out.

when you say "weekend", do you mean over the course of a few hours or a few days? lol.
