Turbo Install ? D16Y8
I have a 2000 Honda Civic EX and I believe the D16Y8 is the motor. I am going to buy a Greddy turbo kit and I was wondering how hard the install will be. I have never installed a turbo before but I have worked on chevy engines with my friend. We are fairly good at working on engines and havent needed help so far but I was wondering if its possible for us to install this kit. Any feedback would be appreciated.

RE: Turbo Install ? D16Y8
i think that kit is supposed to be relatively easy to install, just make sure you have all your oil and vaccum lines in order and you shouldn't be too bad, the piggyback for the ecu takes care of fuel regulation so you don't have to try and tune that yourself

RE: Turbo Install ? D16Y8
installed a GReddy turbo kit on a friends car a few months ago, relitavely easy to install, takes a while but all turbos will
problem was the instructions were all in fricken japanese [:@] had pictures tho so we still got a good 85 hp out of it in the end (had to do some tweeking, the pictures were clear but not like the words would have been) |
RE: Turbo Install ? D16Y8
If you buy the kit it should be no problem. I think the hardest part will be the oil lines and tapping them. Good luck and take some pics during the install.

RE: Turbo Install ? D16Y8
If you have never done one it's not hard but it will take at least a full day and possibly a second one to finish it up

RE: Turbo Install ? D16Y8
another thing...if uve never done it before have someone do it who has..and ask if u can watch...theyll get it done in 6 or 7 hours if theyre slow...and you can then do it yourself in the future
