shocks going bad?
i just slapped on some new tokico illumina's adjustible shocks on some max speed adjustible coilovers, with a 2.5 drop back and front, my brother say its stupid cause of the coilovers.. or something it mite blow the shocks... but hten again all shocks will blow eventually but is this set up really bad?? i need some commentaries and .. how long do u guys think my shocks will last.. and do the wear depend on how i set the settings of the shocks?

RE: shocks going bad?
shouldnt be too bad. did you remove the bumpstops? or cut them down?
|
RE: shocks going bad?
i left the old bumpstop there even though i had new ones because they were still good ? and um .. i left 2 in there?
|
RE: shocks going bad?
and none in the other 2? w/o bumpstops, the shocks will not last long at all.
|
RE: shocks going bad?
no no.. u misunderstood wat i said lolz .. i have 2 new bumperstop but i left the stocks one there cause it was still good and htere's 2 bumper stop per shocks

RE: shocks going bad?
oh ok. your shocks should be fine as long as you keep the bumpstops in. you may want to cut them down if the ride seems abnormally rough. take about half an inch off of the small end. about one segment.

RE: shocks going bad?
would any problem occur if i dont cut the bumpstop, to let u know i didnt cut any of my bumpstops at all from front to rear
|
RE: shocks going bad?
this is probably a stupid question where and what exactly is a bumpstop?
|
RE: shocks going bad?
isnt it a piece of rubber or poylurithane that stops the axle from hitting the chassis when the suspension compresses too much?
|
RE: shocks going bad?
That (on some cars), and it keeps the struts from bottoming out, which puts a loooot of wear on their internals.
