Default "Welcome" message on radio display

Well, we picked up our new 07 LX sedan last week and man do I like this car.

On page 112 of the owners manual it says that the "welcome" message that is supposed to scroll across the radio display (where the clock, the radio station etc is shown) can be replaced with another message of up to 16 characters. The manual gives directions on how to do it, but I can't get it to work. In fact the "welcome" message isn't even there.

Is there a trick to this that isn't in the manual or does this feature need to be turned on somehow?
If you can help, I'd appreciate it.
