With the cold weather just about moved in, I thought to maybe give a shotout to all audio newbies here about cold weather and their systems.

the major problem with cold weather and systems for people are subs.

subs are like anything else when cold, they stiffin up. and when it has less flex on the cone, the material can crack. this means that when you get into your car. and its like say 40* or lower starting your car and blasting the music is a BAD thing. you could crack your cone or snap a spider easy.

so your going to want to let the car warm up while having the speaker on low so it can warm up also. these rules also apply with regular speakers.

its also good to have everything shut off when you start your car an Older batt. could have issues.

ALSO...

your car is cold as well, iv seen car start to rattle more offten because the systems are cranked durring the winter.

that is all

Also, if you have Dynamat or other sound deadening materials installed, they will not be as effective at colder temperatures. I've noticed that I get more road noise on cold mornings until the car heats up.

that what happends with my deck, a tempature sign will pop up showing its to cold and it wont work normal till it worms up in the car...and thats why i take my subs and amp out for the winter, some people say this is stupid, but its not worth recking them, my friend had a bad experience with it, and i left them in last year for half the winter and you can see the frost on them when you go in your car in the morning and i didn't like that at all

no very very smart. iv done that for many systems.

i will write a winter prep later tonight unless someone wants to do it sooner. if someone does..please make impotant to the fact that snow salt is the killer of cars. its very important to not let salt try onto your paint and parts. WASH WASH WASH. i was my car 3 times a week at least in the winter.

I can relate to the salt thing, all they use in my home provence is salt on the roads, you sometimes see people with black cars but the bottom half of the car is white. it is sad really cause some people just say " i let the rain wash my car" i just want to smack those people in the head and take their keys.[:@]
