Default 2005 EX Special Edition MP3 player?

Does anyone know if there is anyplace to purchase the factory MP3 players that come in the 2005 Civic EX Special Editions? I have a new EX and would like to have the factory MP3 player that comes in the special edition, but I can't seem to find it anywhere to purchase. Thanks in advance for your help.

The dealer, or ebay. In all honesty, you're going to pay thru the nose for one when it really sucks in sound quality and reliabiltiy. Youd be better off getting an aftermaret head unit for half as much and MUCH MUCH better sound quality. Even though stock Honda speakers really blow, they will sing with a good aftermarket h/u. Back me up DC.

BTW, welcome to HCF.

Thanks for the quick reply! I just purchased an Alpine MP3 player and it's installed, but I'm guessing I preferred the look of the factory stereo system because it looked like it "fit" better. The Alpine looks great, it's the same color as the dash and of course it sounds great. I didn't realize the factory ones would be unreliable, I'm guessing I'm better off with the new one I got then.

A Nakamichi head unit looks exactly like some factory radio. They fit really well in hondas and toyotas

I got a message from someone saying that I could order this from tune-town.
http://www.tune-town.com/Cars/stuff/...onda_Civic.htm
Item # MET997897 and that it would allow me to use my Alpine HU and still keep the pocket/door that was in the 2005 civic when I got it.

Has anyone hear used that kit? I'm wondering how well it matches/fits the dash.

Its called a radio harness kit. Your going to need one. I would only use metra if you are experienced. If not, go here, www.crutchfield.com . They have an excellent resouce of "How To's" for novices, and even provide calling assitance for life!

"really sucks in sound quality and reliabiltiy------stock Honda speakers really blow"

Come on now, it's not as bad as you say. My Special Edition Package was free, so the MP3 6-CD sound system was included---I did not select this option but I DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS with the quality of the head unit nor do i have any problems with the quality of the sound. It all depends on your reference point or what you are comparing this particular system againts. This is the Honda Civic Forum for enthusiasts not the Honda Civic Complaint department...................................my 2 cents....................

I dont think you fully understood what I said. For what you pay for... IT SUCKS. Now, this is a forum that is also heavily based on opinions. Especially people who are experienced form their opinions. Also, here is my problem & delimma. It may not be bad for you. But to me, its bad. And thats my 2 cents.

...No flaming intended...
