Default 2006 Civic iPod Link new device?

I have a 2006 Civic with the ipod link setup. I love it and have always had a pod classic sitting in the glove that I can refill at my leisure.

The ipod was stolen, so I need to replace the device.

I am having a hard time finding a used classic with a working battery for a reasonable amount, but plenty of friend have offered me devices that are sitting around.

I tried an iPod touch (an early one) and it sees the music and plays it, but it does not charge the device as it did an iPod Classic.

Does anyone know if there is a way to make the iPod Link charge a newer Apple device or some other work around?

Thanks,

Henry

I realize this is a bit old, but it might just be your early iPod Touch, if it's a reeeeeeally early one. Our 2009 has the USB port in the center cubby armrest, and it'll charge all of our Apple products. FWIW, my iPod Touch is the oldest of them (it's 3 years old and still runs OS 4.2 - maybe Gen 3?) and it charges fine.
