Default 97 stero relpacement

My son tried to get a new stereo installed by Best Buy in his 97 coup. He backed away from it because they told him by removing the old stereo and installing the Sony that he wanted, his dome light, remote key entry and sun roof and maybe more would not work anymore. Is this true and is there a fix? They told him they needed to install the old stereo in the trunk for everything to still work.
I need some good info.

I have a 97 civic ex coupe with an alpine cd player and all my stuff works so there must be a way around it. My car has the player from the previous owner so I couldn't tell you what you would have to do for it to work.

Ive got a 97 ex coupe as well... I installed my stereo. The thing is, for this generation of civics, the stock radio has to remain in the car, if you want the keyless entry to work. My sunroof and light work fine. I wouldnt go the best buy route....

Head over to crutchfield.com

These guys are good, and will give you every detailed instruction upon installing the head unit.

what i meant to say was that its for the 96-98's.

if you want, you can go here http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs...PDF/466013.pdf

to see what installation is like, and it will show you where to leave the stock radio.

Went to Crutchfield got the stereo and everthing else was free. I installed it myself. Thanks for the info. I forgot about Crutchfield.
